  12. Prepare 2 medium red onions

  14. Prepare 1 teaspoon crushed black pepper
  15. Prepare 4 tablespoons fresh chopped coriander
  16. Get 3 chopped green chilies de-seeded if you prefer the filling to be mild
  17. Take 2 tablespoons flour
  18. Prepare 2 tablespoons butter
  19. Take 1 1/2 cups milk
  20. Prepare Sesame seeds for the topping optional

Even though I have been making the chicken bread roll for some time, but there is always a sense of satisfaction to see the golden brown braided and stuffed chicken bread come out perfectly. Spread filling evenly over middle of dough. To braid, lift strips of dough across mixture to meet in center, twisting each strip on turn. Continue alternating strips to form a braid.

Instructions to make Chicken  braided bread:
  1. Preheat oven to 200 C.
  2. In a large mixing bowl combine 4 cups of flour, 1 tablespoon instant yeast, 2 tablespoon milk, 1 teaspoon salt, 4 tablespoon oil, 1 egg and 1 teaspoon granulated sugar..
  3. Form the dough by slowly adding warm water. Be sure to do this gradually, as you don't want a very wet dough. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it is soft and springs back at the touch of a finger
  4. Cover the dough and let it rise for about 1 hour in a warm place nearby the oven.
  5. While the dough is rising, prepare the chicken filling.
  6. In a medium sized saucepan, add 2 tablespoons of butter and 2 chopped red onions.
  7. Cook the onions till they are just translucent, we don't want any colour on them.
  8. Add 2 tablespoons of flour and let it cook for about 1 minute while stirring continuously.
  9. Pour in 1 1/2 cups of milk and stir slowly until it becomes thick.
  10. Add the shredded chicken, coriander, green chilies, black pepper and salt. Let cool.
  11. After the dough has risen, divide it into 2 equal sized balls.
  12. Roll one dough ball into a rectangular shape. Brush some melted butter over it
  13. Put your cooled chicken filling in the middle of the rectangle and cut diagonal slits on the longer sides of the rectangle.
  14. Fold over the slits in a criscross fashion, neatly folding at the end(see the step picure
  15. Repeat this for the second dough ball.
  16. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds. - Place the breads on a greased baking tray and bake for about 30 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
  17. Enjoy with chilli garlic ketchup!

Tuck ends under to seal at end of braid. Brush egg white over dough using pastry brush. Add it to the chicken-veggie mixture. Spread the crescent roll dough out on a silicon mat or parchment paper and place that on a baking pan. Leaving three inches in the middle, make cuts down the side of the dough an inch apart on both sides.
