Steps to make Murg Hariyali or Palak Chicken:
- Take kadai, add ghee/oil to it. Fry the potatoes for a min and keep it aside. Now in the same pan, add 1 tsp jeera & all the khada garam masalas, bay leaf, dried red chilli, curry leaves. Let them splutter a bit, now add hing. Mix everything well.
- Now add the chicken & potato pieces to it. At the same time, add onion slices, chopped tomatoes, green chillies, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric, salt, coriander-cumin powder, Kashmiri red chilli powder, hot red chilli powder, garam masala powder, chicken masala and mix everything very well. Cover it and cook it in a low flame for about half an hour.
- Now wash the palak leaves and blanch them and grind it in a mixer to form a smooth paste.
- After half an hour open the lid and mix everything well again. At this point of time you can add half cup of lukewarm water and give it a mix.Again cover it and cook it for 15 more mins.
- After 45 mins now add the palak puree into it. Cover it & cook it for 10 more mins. And your Murg Hariyali is ready to serve. Serve hot with rice or naan.
Turn the heat up to high and add the marinated chicken. Then add about a quarter cup of water, stir it in and turn the heat down to low.
