But today's recipe is all about the greens. Chicken and lots of green herbs joined hands together to create this amazing flavor packed curry named 'Hariyali Murgh Masala'. 'Hariyali' means greenery in Hindi. hariyali murg green chicken with rice Hariyali Murg or sometimes called as 'green chicken' is a mild spicy Indian gravy dish.
Steps to make Hariyali Murg:
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Add 1 cup chopped onions & saute. Let the onions turn soft. Remove them from the pan & keep aside.
- In the same pan add 1 tbsp oil. Add 1 tbsp cumin seeds & whole spices. Then add 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste & 2 tbsp water. Saute.
- Then add the marinated chicken. Saute & add 1 tbsp fresh cream. Cover for 2-3 minutes & let the chicken pieces roast in the masala.
- Add 1 bowl water & mix. Cover & let the chicken pieces cook.
- Add the roasted onions to a blender along with 4 green chilies, 1 cup coriander leaves, 1 cup mint leaves, 1/2 cup water & blend into a smooth paste.
- Add the blended paste to the chicken, 2 cups of water & 1 tbsp lemon juice. Mix well. Add salt as per taste. Cover & let the gravy cook.
- Add 1 tbsp kewda essence & let it remain on low flame for 2 minutes. Remove from flame & serve hot with bhakri.
